Coach Karen

Coach Karen has been instructing group fitness for over 35 years!  In April 2017 she joined the High Five Fitness team and we are lucky to have her!  Karen is upbeat, motivating, knowledgeable and intense.  Karen says, "I love EVERYTHING about coaching.  Mostly, the relationships formed and being able to actually watch people get healthier in front of my eyes, I feel so proud!"

Karen has a very broad fitness background and has led several different types of classes.  Her career started during the "aerobics craze".  At MSU they would pack over 300 people into the double gym at IM Circle and Karen would teach from a stage!   Another fun gig was when she trained one-on-one with Master Shin from  Shinns Tae Kwon Do for a summer and then taught kickboxing classes there and at the MAC.  

When Karen is not at the gym, she is a full-time massage therapist.  She has her own practice and moonlights with two local chiropractors.  Karen loves to run (she has completed five full marathons), travel, and hangout at the lake.  She also has a fascination with muscles/fitness and how everything works and spends ridiculous amounts of time watching workout videos!

Karen says, "I couldn't be more proud to represent HFF. Of all of the many places I have worked at, they are by far the most community oriented and caring when it comes to looking out for their members. Watching how this gym changes lives actually makes me tear up!".  Thank you Karen, we love you too!
